The EMU soccer men went on the road and won at Gallaudet by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday. The Royals improve to 3-5 on the season with the victory.

The Royals struck early on in the fifth minute when Caleb Oakes (Waynesboro, Va./Stuarts Draft) collected a rebounded shot and put it in the left side of the net for his first goal of the season. The score would hold up until halftime despite seven corner kick opportunities for EMU.

In the 60th minute, the Royals drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick. Troy Davis (Gainesville, Va./Patriot) lined up and softly placed the ball to the top right of the net to become the first Royal with multiple goals on the season.

On the tenth EMU corner kick opportunity of the night, the Royals were able to add a third goal to their lead. In the 71st minute, Leiyan Kariuki (Nairobi, Kenya/St. Patricks) headed a perfectly served corner kick from Austen Smith (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam) for his second goal of the season.

EMU outshot the Bison 21-9 as Ahmed Zaatar (Barboursville, Va./William Monroe) had three saves in goal.

The Royals stay on the road the weekend as they head to Lebanon Valley on Saturday, September 21, for a game at 3:00pm.
