Royals Fall to Generals in Wednesday Matchup

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Royals baseball team faced off against the Generals of Washington and Lee University on Wednesday in an ODAC matchup. 

EMU was able to stay firmly within reach through the first couple innings but a five-run fifth propelled W&L to an 11-4 win. 

Records: EMU 4-12, 0-3 ODAC | WU 10-3, 4-1 ODAC

WP: Matt Fleming (W, 2-0)
LP:  Alec Riles (L, 0-5)

Highlights

●    Washington and Lee took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before adding five in the fifth to move ahead 7-0. 
●    In the bottom of the sixth the Royals would score their first runs as Natty Solomon homered to left field, scoring Cole Bashinski for a pair of RBI and cutting the Generals lead to 7-2.  
●    In the seventh, Bashinski grounded out to third base, picking up an RBI as Logan Mason would score. 
●    In the bottom of the ninth inning, Dylan Hall singled to the right side, scoring Hunter Sturgeon for the Royals fourth and final run.

Solomon: 1-4, 2 RBI, HR

Arnold: 3-4, 2B

Bashinski: 1-4, 1R, 1 RBI

What's Next

The Royals will travel to Virginia Beach on Saturday for an ODAC doubleheader against Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch of game one is at 12:00 pm.
