Royals Drop Series Opener at Virginia Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Royals baseball team was at the beach on Saturday, taking on Virginia Wesleyan in the first of two weekend games. 

The Marlins used eight runs through four innings en route to an 11-0 win over EMU.

Highlights

  • The Marlins were able to take a lead in the first inning, picking up four runs, three earned, off of West. 
  • Natty Solomon doubled to lead off the second, but advanced no further. Virginia Wesleyan added two more in their half of the second, taking a 6-0 lead. 
  • In the third, Julian LaBella led off with a single and stole second to put another runner in scoring position. Ethan Spraker singled but a double play kept EMU off the board, keeping the VWU lead in tact. 
  • The Royals were able to pick up two more hits in the seventh and eighth, but weren't able to push any runs across.

What's Next

EMU will wrap up their trip to the beach on Sunday with a noon matchup against the Marlins.
