Highlights
- 3' – Ford DeVault got the scoring started early for the Royals. Dallas Organek played a pass deep into Marlins territory that the VWU keeper misplayed. DeVault was able to scoot in and take the ball from the keeper, dribble in and bury it in the back of the net to give EMU a 1-0 lead.
- Virginia Wesleyan had three good chances throughout the first half, but Andrew Arledge came up with a pair of saves and a hard shot found the crossbar to keep the Marlins off the board.
- 40' – With just five minute until the half, the Marlins Aria Kimiavi played a pass to Jaron Berry who was able to put it past Arledge to tie things at one.
- Both teams pushed forward offensively in the second half but both keepers came up with some big saves.
- 73' – Arledge came up with the save of the game for EMU to keep things tied at one. A nice header from Alex Moody just feet from the goal looked like it was heading in, but fast reflexes from the Royals keeper helped him make a great save.
- 79', 80', 87' and 90' – EMU had four chances late, with shots on goal from Kaden Schrock, Jacques Mobile, Organek and Mesa Dula but the Marlins keeper made big saves on each one to keep the tie intact.
