Balanced Offensive Effort Leads Royals To Victory

HARRISONBURG, Va. - It was a steady and balanced offensive effort for the Royals in Yoder Arena, one that led to a decisive win over visiting Penn State-Altoona. 

The win puts the Royals back at the .500 mark in the young season, looking to continue their promising season with their sprouting youth and returners. 

Highlights

  • It took a moment for the Royals to start heating up, finding themselves in a 4-0 holeafter five minutes of play. Sophomore Laila Glymph got EMU on the board, though, sinking a jump shot inside the arc after grabbing the offensive board. The Royals continued on an 8-0 run to take an 8-4 lead in the first period. 
  • The second period was all EMU as they outscored Lions 29-10 to take a commanding lead heading into the half. Zebe Rhodes sank two from beyond the arc and Laila Glymph shot 3-4 in the period to each put six on the board for the Royals. 
  • The Royals continued their offensive prowess in the third peiod, again outscoring the visting Lions, this time 13-9. Brii Redfearn started the scoring for EMU, sinking a jump shot inside the first minute of play. EMU continued to put up a defensive wall throughout the period. 
  • Coming down the stretch of the final period, the Royals continued to move the ball around and find quality shots. Using the bench a great deal, EMU found offense from many of its players. Seven different Royals scored in the final period on their way to the decisive victory over PSA. 

By The Numbers

  • 10 - Off the bench, Glymph and Rhodes each had ten points for the Royals. Glymph added eight rebounds with Rhodes grabbing five. 
  • 12 - Redfearn led the scoring for the Royals with 12 points. The first-year added three rebounds. 
  • 10 - Constance Komara led the team in rebounds, grabbing 10 total boards across the game. 

What's Next

The Royals are back in action against crosstown rival Bridgewater on Wednesday, Dec. 1 in a conference matchup at 7:00pm.
