Royals Fall at Averett

DANVILLE, Va. – EMU made the trek to Danville on Saturday, taking on future ODAC foe, Averett.

The Cougars used 10 first quarter goals en route to an 18-3 win over the Royals.

Records: EMU 1-5 | Averett 4-0, 0-0 ODAC

Highlights

  • Royals keeper Cristal Narciso kept the game scoreless, picking up two saves early on, one on an Averett free position shot. She would add three more saves in the period, but Averett was able to pick up 10 goals, taking a 10-0 lead after one.
  • Narciso added three more saves in the third quarter, but AU added three more goals, taking a 13-0 lead into the half.
  • EMU got on the board twice in the first 7 minutes of the third quarter. With 11:57 remaining in the period and EMU a person up, Aaliyah Lawhorne found Alex Palizzi, who beat the Cougar keeper for her 11th goal of the season. Three minutes later, Courtney Crawford added her sixth goal of the season to cut into the Averett lead.
  • The Royals final goal came midway through the fourth quarter when Amber Bonds scored on a free position shot.

The Royals will return home for a midweek matchup against Wilson. Wednesday's game will kickoff at 4 pm.
